Well just got home from the www.stathealth.com.au technology
preview on the gold coast.
Interesting, interesting.
Built on Microsoft's .Net platform.
3 tier app running on ms sql 2005.
But the app doesn't talk directly to sql but to an app server
that then talks to the sql srv.
They have committed to snomed (?) instead of ICPC.
They plan to have beta sites up late this year and a general
launch jan/feb 08.

Wondering if they are using a SOA and therefore have delegated the
SNOMED component to a web service?
If so sounds like an opportunity for some standardisation between
clinical software plaforms through the use of the same SNOMED service;
or is this service to be delegated federally?
Andre.

Guys,
So now we have Stat Health, MD3, BP, Plexus on SQL2005 and .Net.
Any other takers?
Having seen the time and problems to upgrade MD3 to MD 3.6, involving
the install of SQL 2005, among other things, the maintenance overheads
of this technology is increasingly a concern to me.
Along with monthly PBS updates and all the rest, maintaining systems in
practices is getting silly, and as HCN found out last week, lots of
people aren't coping.
