Take the RSS feed <http://www.cbc.ca/podcasting/includes/hourlynews.xml>. It
only ever has a single item in it - an mp3 of the latest hourly news (and
sometimes half-hourly updates) on CBC Radio 1. The link in the <enclosure> tag
is always the same though the <guid> tag does change.
When you first add the feed url to gpodder, it will download the current item
but it will *not* get future updated items even though the <guid> is different.
It will only download the new one at the next check for updates if you delete
from gpodderr the one it did download (either manually or if you have gpodder
set to delete after sync). Once deleted, gpodder happily downloads the newest
item on it's next check for updates.
Also, in the past episodes list on the right hand side, when a new item is
downloaded then *all* the past episode change their icons from the trashcan to
the notes icon with the green checkmark as if *all* of them were new. The list
of feeds on the left hand, well, right now after I right-clicked on latest ep
on the right and chose download it's saying that I have 345 episodes with 345
unplayed.
