I don't know if you can believe it: there are many a 'feminist' / 'left' woman writer/orator in this State, who would blissfully concede the entire public sphere to men, subject to the following conditions:- 1.Their version of feminism will neither promote any space for discussion about sexuality nor will claim any right to autonomy over bodies. 2.They will keep writing and speaking at length on streepeedanam and maintain vigilance about the cultural invasion from across the borders in the form of AIDS,SEX-TOURISM,EXPRESSIONS OF LOVE IN PUBLIC,HOMOSEXUALITY,UNIONISING OF SEX-WORKERS,SEX-EDUCATION etc. 3.They will guard the institution of heterosexual- monogamous family, even at a cost of sacrificing every kind of human rights. 4.They may extend support to women as victims in sex,but will never allow agency for those who do not wish to conform to the dominant form of family/its moral regime.
