My feeling is that there are two distinct issues involved in this. If somebody who is a total stranger write personal mail by way of threats in continuation with the discussion , it indeed is an encroachment into privacy.
Now that the whole community is so alert and vigilant about democracy, I personally feel there is no need for moderating 'Rajeender" [ a putative entity!!] anymore. Well, so many friends came in support of Rajeender's rights. It also testifies to the fact that not many thought of his intervention as an attempt at 'silencing' or 'sensoring' another member who happened to be woman by name. [ Though I 'know' both Devika and 'Rajeender' , I consider as immaterial as far as this discussion is concerned] True, in buses and other public spaces , when a rights violation takes place, whether one intervenes or not depends on many factors. Even if we have clear position on it. In this instance, it might also be so that everybody considered Devika as somebody who is capable of 'dealing the situation'. But I personally consider it my responsibility to stand with her once she raises it as an issue...For me it is equally disturbing if somebody is forced to leave/ boycot this place.
