"There are no permanent enemies or allies"( in issue based mobilisations)
just a few words on this:
 Even in such mobilizations,
to the degree to which issues of caste and gender get selectively
addressed /prioritized /mystified / focused / invisibli-zed so as to not
disturb the staus-quoist consensus and with unfailing permanence,
your observation does not appear tenable.
On the contrary, it smacks of post -modern moorings on the one hand
(which might help in getting rid of the sense of culpability in being mute
spectators to the continuing, and most abhorrent crimes),
and even "pre-modern"on the other.... .
Because, any issue that problematizes caste-gender equations gets
automatically transposed as though it were but one among several other
non-problematic(in this paradigm) , around which you may or may not choose
to mobilize;
and more significantly,
you would sit in judgement on what is democracy and what is fascism, even
unmindful of the "weightiness" of these expressions in the discourses about
the struggles of people the world over.
These are my provisional reservations against your position ,and I wish I
were mistaken.
regards to you,
