dear maya,
since i feel "god" and "purogamanam" are being discussed here as absolute/fixed
categories i'd suggest we look at persepectives such as kancha illaiah's.
In why i am not a hindu he illustrates how the brahmanical gods and
dalitbahujan gods are entirely different in all "divine" aspects(including
misogyny).

Sreenivas, I dont understand the simile between the teapot and god.

And its not clear for me what people think of  'believing in god' either, from
the discussions.

And I was not calling anyone purogamannakkar sanjeev. I was wondering here
about a topic 'purogamanam and belief in God' . Belief in God doesnt
necessarily mean belief in Religion, and vice versa. ( i dont know if its a
topic for people here; but it is a debatable one in my mind,  Especially
because these terms are very much misogynistc in their meanings ). May be these
terms are to be discussed and defined as they are in very common usage still.
May be when the discussion makes people fed up,  could be taken as a joke
finally!

Hi Maya ,

The discussion about god itself is meaningless and a waste of time . let
us discuss about something that is real and existing . Can i imagine that there
is a teapot revolving around the earth and immediately start thinking whether
it exists or not? God is also like that .
we have created  something in our  imagination and and then worrying about that
.
and real athiests do not respect other's religion also because he /she knows
that religion is  stupidity . so if u r an athiest (i dont know) , u dont have
to respect the religious feelings of anybody .

Dear Sanjeev,

I dont understand why you take it as a brutal accusation ! I never meant to do
so. I mean, I dont mean to accuse anyone while trying to bring out a creative
discussion on the topic 'God' and 'Belief in God'.
I dont mind anyone being a believer; you or Anil and Salim who responded here.
And I dont think 'believing in God' is a thing to be accused.
Its true that I was not jocking.( though in this group there is a practice of
jocking, teasing, accusing etc., instead of discussing)  But I was not meaning
to insult anyone`s belief too.
But I definitely think ' belief in God' is a topic that could be debated in
this forum. Because all in this group are progressive thinkers in one way I
hope. Ya, may be there is no need to have that label as well. Or it should be
in some other way it has to be addressed. I don`t know. But I have been engaged
with such debates and am still interested to know how people think about 'God'
in the modern-postmodern era (or just the present post marxist era or whatever).
Such anxieties happened to be posed with  reference of your email, that`s all.
The poem is meaningful . God has no issues of survival may be. So no need to
worry about taking a PhD ( which itself is a meaningless idea).
thanks

dear maya,
being called "purogamanakaran" is beyond the limits of my endurance.
hence the following blasphemy.
hope this would suffice and you'd withdraw your brutal accusation:-)

Why God never got a PhD

S/He had only one major publication.

It was written in Aramaic, not in English.

It has no references and footnotes.

It wasn't even published in a refereed journal.

There are serious doubts s/he wrote it her/himself.

The Scientific community has had a hard time replicating her/his results.

When subjects didn't behave as predicted, s/he deleted them from
the sample.

S/He rarely came to class, just told her/his students to read the book.

Some say s/he had her/his son to teach the class.

S/He expelled her/his first two students for learning.

Although there were only 10 requirements, most of her/his students
failed her/his tests.
