Brother,

No, I did not restart the computer after installing texlive, but I did see that lualatex was already known via environmental variable - that is, I could call it from the commandline without it's full path.

When I installed texlive, it was with an administrator's account (domain admin, no less) but I did not "run as administrator".

Yes, I ran the Gregorio installer under the same user.

However, after I restarted the computer I ran the Gregorio installer again and it worked fine.

So, I've installed Gregorio to C:\texlive\gregorio
Here is the console output from the installer:

I looked in C:\texlive\gregorio\examples, but it did not compile PopulusSion.gabc - although the file is present in that directory.

God bless!

The problem doesn't appear to be related to the Gregorio installer, but rather the way that the TeX binaries are registered with the the operating system. Have you restarted the system since installing TeXLive? Did you install TeXLive with administrator privileges? Are you running the Gregorio installer as the same user?

Brother,

Okay, this time with texlive 2014.

Also, I see that Gregorio didn't create any entry in the Start Menu.

I see that both lualatex and texlua are on the commandline with environmental vars.
But gregorio is NOT.
Gregorio.exe is not in c:\texlive\2014\bin\win32
but texlua IS there.

So I uninstalled gregorio and tried to install it to c:\texlive\gregorio instead.
Same problem.

Too bad there isn't a settings file for gregorio that the installer could work with.

I expect the TeXLive installation to be less problematic. If you could confirm that by uninstalling MiKTeX, installing TeXLive, and then testing the Gregorio installer, I'd appreciate that.

We can come back to the MiKTeX problems (which are occurring in multiple versions of Windows) once we've confirmed the installer works for TeXLive under Windows 8 (as it does under Windows XP and Windows 7) and I have some time to actually do some trouble shooting.
