I was about to suggest a feature-freeze and branching for the release
candidate myself, so I'm definitely on board with this idea.
Agreed! It will be necessary to fix #629 before submitting the new beta
or rc to TeXLive, as the new LaTeX is already in TeXLive... Does someone
have a vanilla TeXLive install in order to test with the new LaTeX?
I either have, or can have a vanilla TeXLive 2015 installation on any
one of my VMs.
