OK, so found the plist file in the recommended location, deleted, but at 
every boot, the Welcome screen is presented again.

Looking into the plist file, I see the following (makes me believe, this 
should prevent the Welcome screen):
    <key>GrowlFirstLaunch</key>
    <false/>

Thoughts?

Am I missing something?
