I'm not sure how to find the logs. Where are they? Do I have to enable 
logging first? Sorry--I haven't had to troubleshoot this in depth before.

I checked Activity Monitor. Only one instance of Growl.

At your last comment, I did check the Notifications control panel out of 
curiosity, and there are, oddly enough, two entries for Twitter with 
different setting options. One shows the Twitter logo with the colors 
inverted from the icon (blue on white instead of white on blue), so I'm 
wondering if this is an old option that's somehow stuck. (The Growl options 
for Twitter are set to defaults.)
