Just to be clear about something. You can run a GridFTP server in
standard FTP stream mode (MODE S) and force it into passive. You can
not do that with GridFTP in extended block mode (MODE E). The
protocol says that the receiving side MUST be the TCP listener and
the sending side MUST initiate the TCP connect.

VFSManager -> not supported on mac
Gridftp.net -> obviously only Win
Trebuchet -> works on non-Intel based macs but uses “active”
transfers and therefore doesn’t work at a lot of sites
Would like the tool to be gui-based, able to do recursive transfer
and operate in passive mode.

As far as I know there isn't anything like a native Mac client out
there, but you may want to try the Firefox GridFTP extension
