That is very odd ant behavior. What is ANT_HOME set to? Is there
an /etc/ant.conf?

I'm starting to suspect that the distro is broken... I don't remember
doing any Ant builds since I last upgraded. Also, I can't reconcile
RPM's reports about where the Ant files are, with their actual
locations.
But that doesn't explain why the ant 1.7 build would fail.

The directory /usr/local/jdk/ is the correct path on our systems
for Java packages.

This is Scientific Linux 1.5 on an x86_64.
I also tried switching from JDK 1.5 to JDK 1.6. No improvement.
