Since this ABS thing has come up again, I would like to a moment & update my findings
so far. I have been looking into the HU of the FJ1200. They are of the same time
period as our GTS's. I have checked shop manuals, micrifische,p\n's & pricing. I have
even asked the questions on the FJ club.I even spoke to a few Yamaha mechanics. The
findings seem to indicate that the HU is the same unit on both bikes.( With the
exception of mounting points). FJ owners don't seem to have any problems.Which leads
this whole thing back to maintenance,& storage conditions. I think. Speaking of
maintenance , I called in the pro's to check my engine.(since the comp. was so low, I
wanted their evaluation) A quick valve check revealed 3 exh valves a little tight. Not
a terrible thing. However the comp. moved up barely. Further consolidation they came
up with theories ranging from slightly bent valve(s),excessive carbon biuld up (hence
the terminology IDLE QUEEN ),sticky\stuck piston ring(s) (probably comp) etc..... the
debate goes on.Folks you know what I think. I think I should just take her for a nice
long BOOT,(when the weather gets good of course) which should clear things right up
