The problem occurs usually in higer gears, (3d, 4th or
5th), while holding steady at a nice even cruise.
3800 rpm is a nice place to sit, and I like to keep
the revs low, so this is a habit I may have to break.
The place I notice it most, probably because it is the
most disconcerting, is when i enter a turn right
around 4000, slow down a little to negotiate the turn,
and then want to throttle back upright and out of the
turn. Instead of the motor pulling the bike upright,
I will have to shift my weight to the outside to get
it up (no jokes, please). The problem occurs whether
turning or straight, but it's not as spooky in a
straight line.
Engine temp is not a factor (unless I have thermostat
problems and am running really cold all the time--if
my thermostat is stuck, the bike would run v. cool, as
the temp when riding is usually around 40-50F).
I am --very :(-- familiar with the bucking and
surging, and this is a different problem.
As I said, when the temp warms up, I will be able to
do more research, like verifying that it happens in
all gears, and exactly when it pulls out of the flat.
thanks for the help--I'm leaning away from the tps
option, but not ruled it out.
Will keep you all updated--if breakingin the SV650S
doesn't take up all my time. (Anyone else read the
MCN review of this bike? BTW, it was not at all
difficult to get one in from Canada.)
