Hi,
This is probably more applicable to the UK readers...
Back in June 1999, I blew the best part of what was then my mortgage deposit
on a brand new Yamaha GTS1000. Imported into the UK in 97 this bike had
languished unloved for 2 years until I acquired it. The garage I got it from
had fixed the headlight so it dipped correctly for the UK and put 3 stickers
over the speedo to let me know when I was doing 30, 50 and 70 mph.
Until today I thought my bike was fully legal on the road, and whenever it
has been in for service no one has ever queried it. However, a biking
colleague at work suggested that I needed to explain all these modifications
and inconsistencies to my insurance company and let them decide whether my
bike was appropriately converted or not.
Can you tell me if :- a) my bike is legal. b) if its not legal what to do
about it. c) what do I tell my insurance company either way?
Regards,
David
