My experience was to the contrary. All three or four times that I had to tow
my bikes for whatever reason the tow truck guys were careful, knowledgeable
and in all cases I think former (or current) riders themselves.

A lot of places in SF bay area won't tow a bike. The ones that do seem
to know what they are doing.
