Vincent. I read your comments about taking a few minutes to protect the
wiring from being damaged. I have the plastic off my bike right now and
would like to take the precautionary measures you suggested, but I have
looked for the "sharp stub" you mentioned and cannot find it. I would
appreciate if you could describe this area better so that I can find it.

Thanks

Thank you mr. Hawkins - I would have loved to have read this advice last
year :-), therefore:

Concerning the slight mistake Yamaha made by putting the sharp iron stub
under the main part of the wiring, just behind the left front blinker, a
word of advice: I had to do 1000 km in the dark from Holland to Switzerland
without instruments, blinkers or brake lights because of this short and
spent two weeks tracing the short with a voltmeter - and yes, of course the
short is only occasional, so I had a 'naked GTS' in that time. Great.

In my opinion, the two hours you'll need to rip the fairing off and put
something soft around this thing will save you a lot of trouble later on.
It's the easiest design error to correct I've ever seen but an absolute
mother to find if you have no idea what to look for.
