Yes, the mirrors are too close in. One cold, wet weekend I was board and
decided to do something about this. I found some left over wood for a
decking project that was 1 1/2 inch thick. I cut, and filed them to match
the shape of the bottom of the mirrors. There was some consideration on left
and right but have forgotten what it exactly was. I then got some 2 inch long
1/4 20 bolts or close to it to remount them. You can reuse the same mounting
plate and the same holes that are in the fairing. Nut, lock washer and flat
washer for each bolt. All of this was just to see how far out they should
be. Have ideas about more modifications. They could stand to be out 1/2 to
1 inch. An angle needs to be placed in there somehow because I have the
mirrors pushed out in the socket to the max. I had planned on finding some
better material and to paint them but haven't gotten to it. AS IS they work
enough that I can see around my elbows and not being bugged by this I haven't
found the need to make changes, yet. Will possibly be another winter weekend
project.
