I've never had that problem Chase.  Maybe they were stressed by the person
who put them in last and then just gave up during the vibration of normal
riding.  I replaced mine last year with new ones (after I twisted the head
off of one) and was saying to the Yam dealer that I thought it was odd they
were made of plastic and not metal.  He mentioned that he thought they were
plastic because they were designed to break away if you get into an accident
and hit the windscreen.  Not sure if there's any truth to that or not, as
I've never studied motorcycle accidents.
