Many people in the UKFJOC use 'diesel' lube oil to reduce oil consumption.
I doubt it's the same problem with the GTS lump, but the theory is that the
FJ oil control rings 'gum up' at the high temperatures the air-cooled FJ
engine develops.
Using a high detergent 'diesel' oil helps free the rings and is well suited
to those high temperatures.
At the time my FJ didn't use much oil, so when I tried it I wasn't that
impressed. However on a recent trip to Germany, at autobahn speeds it
'drank' oil, so maybe it's time to try again.
