Nick, my buddies also told me that they could smell oil behind me when I
wacked it to pass someone. They never mentioned the smoke. I haven't
checked the oil breather, but my bike is running fine and I will be
switching to a thicker oil for now.

, i'm using Castrol 10/40 , any info you come up with on this PITA problem

When i go out on a run with my mates they all complain about the smoke when
i rev hard between 7000/9000 rpm , but they say it's black smoke and they
can smell fuel , i wonder if it's the oil burning that they can smell , but
shouldn't the smoke be white ?
I still get 40/50 mpg depending on how i ride .
Do you get white smoke when you ride ?
Is you oil breather pipe from the crank case to the airbox clear ?
I think valve stem seals maybe the way to go .
