AMS stuff is available in the UK, usually from car "go-faster" places. Castrol
Magnatec, or even better, Motul 300v will probably be a lot easier to find locally.
However, worrying about which brand of oil is best is kind of missing the point. Why
not do a cylinder leakage test to find out whether your rings are sealing first? If
not, a brief spell with a "running-in" oil or diesel oil might help, but not if the
problem comes from the bores being worn beyond specification or being deeply scratched.
On the other hand, if like most engines, the GTS has rubber oil seals around the valve
stems, maybe they've just gone hard and replacing them would fix your problem. OK, so
it's head off and strip but that's better than dropping the whole engine. You may as
well find out now.
