I use the exact same thing.  I probably consume 4-6 ounces of oil every 1000
miles,
cruising about 75-85 mph for mostly commuting via interstate and main
highways.

If you get a synthetic with low volitility it tends to reduce your oil
consumption.
I would try the Amsoil 20w-50 or 10w-40 motorcycle oil to start, or Mobil 1
15w-50.

I use AMSOIL 20w-50 Series 2000 full synthetic, which I put in after about
5000 miles of dino fluid.  As far as I know, the bike is not suffering any
oil consumption problems.  I don't travel long distances, but I do regularly
ride at around 80 when I'm headed up to Columbia, MD for Ride for Kids
meetings, etc.!
