Last night I went for a ride and dinner with a few other riders and when we
came out after the bike had sat for about an hour it wouldn't start.

I have been having some difficulty with that common security issue where the
engine turns over but doesn't fire, but this wasn't the case. Instead it
started and ran for about 5 seconds and then suddenly stopped. This has
only happened once before, the day before. So then I turned the key to the
off position and then to on, expecting to restart it. Uh uh. There was
nothing on the dash lighting up and all buttons on the bars were dead. I
suspected a fuse so I checked the ones in the tail, and then the one under
the left rear panel but nothing. And no matter how I wiggled that key or
held my tongue it wouldn't come to life.

So, embarrassed GTS owner ends up loading bike in 1/2 ton and taking home.
But before I could go to bed I had to try something. I found a can of
electrical contact cleaner and sprayed it in the key hole. This time when I
turned the key it worked! Yahoo. Except now I'm nervous about it happening
again. Do I need to carry the can of cleaner with me everywhere? Should I
throw the whole high tech switch in the trash and twist two wires together?
Your suggestions please.
