I much prefer the canyon carving to the gravel surfing. I've been doing my
best to keep the two activities seperate. Actually, since the lowside, I
have changed my riding style in a way that probably increases tire wear.
Since 99% of the gravel lies in the middle of the lane, I've stopped taking
a racing line through the turns on roads that I'm unfamiliar with or already
know that gravel hazards exist(and I've been riding alot of uncharted
territory lately) i.e. I won't cross the center of the lane in a turn.
Rather, I find myself pretty much staying within a couple feet of my side of
the centerline most of the time. Sometimes on right handers I ride near the
right side of the road, but for the most part I stay near the center. It
seems that this would result in greater tire wear since I'm not in any
manner attempting to straighten out the turns.
