Greetings Everyone,
Having recently purchased a mint '94 GTS, and having dreamed of owning one
for years, I was a bit dissapointed with the ergos. At a perfectly average
5'9" tall, the reach over the tank is a bit long. After only 90 minutes on
the bike, hands were going numb and elbows were sore from being locked.
Obviously, the solution is either Heli bars or a steering plate adapter (to
allow standard handlebars to be used). I am fairly certain that Heli bars
will not work, as they don't offer enough additional rise. That leaves the
steering plate. Has anyone had any recent (<6 mo ago) experience with the
company that sells this plate? Being a competent home mechanic, would I
find installing the plate difficult? I would very much like to hear from
anyone who has used the steering plate, particularly which handlebar size
used and where they bought it, and if the stock hoses and fittings made the
switch. Ideally, I would like a bar that avoids interference with both the
tank and the stock windscreen. Any and all input is welcome. As soon as I
can solve this minor problem, I can begin to fully enjoy one of the
greatest motorcycles made.

Thank you to our host for maintaining an excellent service and resource.
