Seems to be battery related.  The battery was not putting out the correct
voltage, and needed a good strong charge at a higher than normal voltage.
The battery fully charged should put out 13 volts (yes, NOT 12), but seems
to be self-discharging at a rate of .1 to .2 volts per day.  Normal Yuasa
batteries of this type (the MF line) should only self-discharge at the rate
of about 1/300 of a volt.  The good thing about these batteries, other than
the maintenance free design, is that they are very immune to self-discharge,
and can be neglected for 6 months and still start the bike fine.

 I am negotiating with Yuasa now on how to get a replacement, since mine is
only six months old.
