Nothing like neck snapping wheel popping torque on a motorcycle....it's addictive. The thought of passing up the replacement for the FJ was too much for me to handle. I'll always remember my first ride on the FJ1100....awesome and couldn't stop smiling. I was talking to a guy in England that traded his GTS for an FJR. He says FJR feels a lot better balanced and is not as top heavy. He also said he finds the FJR a lot easier than the GTS to ride in the the tight stuff because you always have plenty of torque on hand in any gear and don't worry about needing to downshift when a turn tightens down. He also said he can't stop smiling every time he twists the throttle while he is on the FJR. Isn't that what it is all about?
I am not getting rid of the GTS...too good a bike. Best bike I have ever owned. It is just getting a stable mate. Cleaner than spray lubes? It depends on how often you spray and with what. WD40 is a good solvent cleaner but is crap as a lubricant. If you used a good spray lube every 50 to 100 miles and allowed the oil to dry after spraying, perfomance and chain life would be on par with the HawkeOiler. Most riders don't do that. With my HawkeOiler I use 140 wt. gear oil which sticks like glue and over spray is minimal. You can't use a heavy oil with any other oiler because they all are totally dependent on flow by gravity and do not pump oil to the chain under pressure. That is why ScottOiler supplies automatic transmission fluid as a lubricant. A heavy oil on the chain simply lasts longer, is cleaner, and performs better. john On 5/1/02 9:51 AM, "Peter Maggiacomo" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > John, what prompted your decision on the FJR? > Is the Hawkoiler cleaner than spray applied lubes? > -Pete > - John Laurenson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> I'll let you know about the FJR when I get mine in >> August.
