Interesting...anyone notice in the latest FJR test in Cycleworld (?) that
the listed weight is basically the same as for a GTS...I thought it was
supposed to be significantly lighter...the write-up wasn't very positive
either especially in the opinions writeups...The styling isn't growing on
me...seems worse, the more I look at it if anything...

It's a shame because I'd love it if Yamaha had built a GTS with shaft drive
that was significantly lighter...and that's what it sounded like it was
going to be...

Pablo makes a good comment about going back to a conventional fork
though...I've been wondering the same thing myself recently...I love the way
the GTS responds when you really hammer into a corner at high speed, scrub
off a ton of speed with that enormous front brake, no dive, lean it in,
brakes off, suspension unfazed, just smoooooth and confident. Intoxicating.
I've owned various Yamahas, BMWs, Ducatis and Moto Guzzis. I haven't ridden
a bike with forks very much recently but if I sold the GTS I do wonder
whether I'd miss that corner entry feeling...

Subject: GTS vs. FJR1300

Yesterday met an ex-GTSer who owns a FJR 1300 now and I got really upset to
hear his comments.

The best: electric screen, engine, 25 litres deposit, cardan (drive train).
The worse: non ABS, front fork (for him definitely better GTSs), foot rest
easily touches floor when cornering.

He didnt seem to be really happy.
Used to go two people, three cases, speed between 125-130 miles/h.
Now can not do this. Seems that FJR doesnt have GTS absolute stability.
Doesnt feel sure doing this.

Remembered how could go fast not only in HWY even cornering. Remembered how
convinced other people to get a GTS after trying his. Cant take to the
limit as did on the GTS.

The main question was not what he said, was how he was telling about. There
was some "unhappiness" in his words.
Anyway this guy owned two FZR1000 EXUP before, and did some local racing
time ago with them.

IMHO it should be difficult to get use to conventional fork after owning a
GTS.

Pablo.
