People have different ideas, some say keep it full, others say empty.

Since gas turns into jelly which gums up injection and carb systems, you
should at the very least drain the floats. What you might want to do is to
disconnect the fueltank but leave it full, this prevents corrosion in it.
While it's disconnected, start the engine and let it run until it stalls,
that indicates that the floats are dry and they won't gum up.

There are additives like StaBil that claims to keep the gas fresh, but I
don't know if they work or if they will last 3 years though. I'm sure others
will know more.
