Greg,
You have the same failure as many. The HU is gummed/plugged. Take the
bike out on the street and slam on the rear brake and you'll probably
leave a nice black mark. Time for either a new HU or try to clean it
yourself. If you have the Y.E.S. plan and/or you're still under warranty
the dealer will replace it for free. Otherwise you're probably on your
own now...either way do a road test and just use the rear brake, very
controllable and you'll know for sure, this is exactly what mine did a
few years back and replaced the HU under my Y.E.S. plan...Bob B.

Subject: Re: Rear ABS is on all the time.

This discussion prompted me to dig out my service manual and run the
test. What does it mean if I get the proper behavior on the front brake
lever, but not the rear brake pedal? IOW, the front brake lever
collapses towards the handlebar, and then is pressurized back to normal
position, but there's no reaction what-so-ever on the rear brake pedal.
I can hear the pump operating, and it's obviously supplying pressure to
the front. Maybe the valve to control the rear brake circuit is faulty?
<shrug>

Suggestions welcome (so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about
when I present this to my service tech).
