Hi Jeff, It seems that some of the owners, particulary in England or rainy/wet parts of the world, have had some issues with rusting out systems. I don't think it is unique to the GTS, per se, but rather a common problem with any motorcycle/vehicle subjected to rain/mud/road grime/snow/salt.
I think this may have gotten started after a check with the dealer revealed the replacement price for factory exhaust. Well over a $1000 bucks, US, for parts. I think the can (cannister/muffler) alone was in the $500 to $600 range, let alone downpipes, collector, catalytic converter and clamps. We all love our bikes, but some of us like to fix 'em up when repairing, and the rest of us, (me), are too cheap to pay full price. And some people just like to make their machines make more noise. (These are the guys that had a baseball card clothes-pinned to their back wheel on their bicycles when they were young.) ;^) Brando the Cheapo BTW, the exhaust on my bike looks pretty good, should be a while before I have to consider replacing it.
