I think I may have accidentally deleted a couple of digests. I did post to the list last week about my Renegade experiences.

Thanks for the concise report. It sounds very positive. I'm confused about the Yamaha end can. Is this your addition, and what model Yamaha was it from? Do you have pictures? -GTSRider
I mean the original GTS can/silencer/muffler - my Renegade system is such that the original unit just slips on the outlet of the 4>2>1. I presumes that with a Renegade "race" can the rest of the pipework is the same; I hope so because I might want to "upgrade" later, also that would give the option of putting back the original can for M.O.T. tests, etc. Must get my pictures on the web very soon. Something to consider is where the power lives that you actually use. The stock pipes were tuned to give midrange punch to a sport tourer that might be on the chunky side (like me)--not just horsepower, but crisp throttle response in the midrange. If I recall the dyno charts, this is slightly compromised by the larger head pipes.
Not in my experience. In fact the original system is compromised by the need to keep the headers short to make room for the catalytic converter. My experience would indicate that the longer headers and the multiple resonance points of the 4>2>1 pipes mean that there are no problems with reduced power at lower r.p.m., efficiency *may* be reduced a little as the narrower pipes might "extract" better at lower engine speeds. In practice, the closed loop EFI seems well able to compensate. I'd bet that the chief resonance of the original system is actually up around 7,000 r.p.m. Below this point the Renegade system gives a bit more power, if you remove the restriction of the can then I believe you stand to get a power gain above 7,000 r.p.m also. Throttle response is definitely improved also, in terms of crankshaft "spool-up" anyhow.
