Something to consider is where the power lives that you actually use. The stock pipes
were tuned to give midrange punch to a sport tourer that might be on the chunky side
(like me)--not just horsepower, but crisp throttle response in the midrange. If I
recall the dyno charts, this is slightly compromised by the larger head pipes. Might
be a perfect match if the compression was bumped up a bit (FZR pistons will do this)...

this, but Jorge indicated that the stock GTS system is highly prone to rust (salt,
humidity), is restrictive in power due to the cat and small tubes, and very expensive.

The Renegade is stainless (and titanium or carbon fiber if you want), gets at least
10% more power, and cheaper than the stock pipes.

Since I keep my bike garaged, and do not ride it when salt has been used, my exhaust
is in pretty good shape. I only have a slight scuff from when somebody hit it in the
parking lot.

Jon,

I'm just a bit curious here. What is the motivation to replace the exhaust
system on the GTS? Is it worn/corroded out or is the desire to have more
power and a different sound? I'm not trying to be disrespectful or
judgmental, just wondering if I need to be concerned about the life of the
exhaust system.

I spoke to Jorge from Renegade at great length about a volume GTS exhaust
purchase. Jorge is the brains at Renegade. He is looking forward to any
purchases.

Please check out the dyno graphs at
http://www.renegade-products.com/renegade/index.html

Keep in mind that these are high quality full systems, in weather resistant
stainless steel, with a variety of exhaust cans available, and should give
you a dyno-tested 10% boost in power with no other changes. All stock
bodywork, parts, hard bags etc. are retained, including the O2 sensor.

We currently have 6 "I am really interested" prospects, and a few "sort of
interested".

Also, he had great praise for the GTS, and apparently had one a while back
if I understood him correctly. He described a process where he attempted to
crack the ECU, but without success.
