I am confused as to the usefulness of magical items to wizards (to those who aren't wizards, >they may prove useful).

I realize that powerstones, staffs, and items that are "always on" are useful to wizards.

But why enchant a staff with the power of healing, if it doesn't confer any special abilities >to the wizard who enchanted it?

It ca be powered 100% by Power enchantment, or from a dedicated (2x) or Exclusive (3x powerstone)

There is no ritual, but casting time, energy cost, and success are determined as if you did >cast it. So, the only "benefit" it provides is that there is no ritual (and if you are >powerful enough, then you don't need a ritual), but you will be required to spend energy and >longer casting time, AND success is the same as if you just casted it yourself.

The only benefits I see for it are for selling it or other people using it.

If your base skill is more than that of the item, then yes.

However, I would expect a camapign with uber-mages to have most "PC" items at skill 20 or higher.

There are also "Mage Only" items...

Plus, it takes less than a minute to walk into a shop and by a "wand of fireballs", but 120h for a Magery 4+ wizard to learn the spell of Fireball from a teacher...
