But if light armor can be Mecha, that is the thin wedge to allow 
heavy Mecha as well.

Reminds me of MBTs with engineer tanks. A little engineering 
capability is a good thing, too much gets in the way of the 
main mission.

Such a mistake requires a case which looks plausible, even 
if it isn't true after all. Can Mecha reach that level of 
credibility?
