Yet the point that the Japanese had poor logistics to support their island conquests is quite valid. TThe Japanese failed on four points: (1) They didn't have enough shipping at the start of the war (2) They didn't build new ships fast enough to replace their losses (3) They failed to adequately protect the ships they did have with anything like the convoy system in the Atlantic (4) And finally they didn't use what shipping they had efficiently. For example, an Army ship might transport a cargo from A to B and return with an empty hold, while a Navy transport at the same time might go from A to B with an empty hold but return with cargo. The degree of noncooperation between the Japanese Army and Navy was comical.
