These are the pros. The cons are basically just the opposite...
Water jet:
higher speed without cavitation
smaller machinery (but it's basically inboard)
smaller draught requirement
increased manoeuvreability with a steerable nozzle
(potentially) quieter
doesn't chew up divers/fish
Propeller(s):
doesn't take up as much internal space
cheaper
more efficient at low speed
lighter
easier to clear if clogged

Thanks for the fast reply. What about durability? My concern is that the
boat is going to be functioning in an environment where dedicated port
facilities won't always be available and so damaged props or rudders
could be a mission kill. Are the water jets more durable? Looking at the
most recent crop of littoral combatants (Visby and the two LCS designs)
and seeing that they use water jets, I would think they would be a
better option, but I'm nowhere close to being a marine propulsion
expert...or even that knowledgable.
