For vessels in this sort of size class, fixing a propeller is basically a dockyard job. Carrying spare impellers and replacing them in the field _should_ be possible, if the ship's designed for it (i.e. you can drain the tunnels while afloat) - and I don't see why you wouldn't design a ship this way. Note that "smaller draught requirement" - lots of things that would foul a conventional prop won't happen to an impeller, because you don't have a fast-moving fragile thing hanging off the bottom of the ship.
