Putting it bluntly, there are those who ignore HISTORY and the evidence out there that indicate that MAN is NOT the primary inducer of climate change. Climate as you put it, has also swung between extremes indicating that rainfall such as we take for granted, has fluctuated - sometimes dramatically, during periods where MAN hasn't existed, or existed in numbers to account for it. So, does climate change exist? Um, yeah. Is the PRIMARY effects caused by Man? Jury is out on that one, and only someone trying to sell me a bill of goods (such as yourself?) will try to cast my opposition as "flatlanderish".
Son - you've a long way to go in the "people handling" scheme of things. I tried gently to remind you that your attitude smacks of arrogance, and rather than take the hint, you jump (again) with both feet into the stinky mess and make it worse. If you want to accuse those who oppose the "Man is evil and the cause of global warming" cult as on the same level as "flatlanders", by all means do so. All you are accomplishing is setting yourself apart in the view of others (such as myself) as someone to be avoided in polite conversation. So - as predicted, we've a pissing contest folks. A strong accusation, a claim that those who oppose the "Cult" of man is evil are backwards and flatlanderish, coupled with someone who objects and points out that there are scientists who point out records in trees, deserts, etc - indicating that droughts have occurred in widespread patterns in the US south and southwest. California Redwoods contain interesting records of rainfall that belie the current alarmists - and even astrophysicists will point out that the Earth's sun is now 30% brighter than when it first formed. All this "evidence" has been around since BEFORE the fashionable "alarmists" started crying "Man is evil and the cause of global warming". And finally - those who scream "Global warming" do so when the temperatures are hotter than expected, yet claim "climate variation" when things grow cooler than expected, yet scream again when it is warmer - never once seeing that "variation" can go BOTH ways. As others have stated, the over all picture is complex enough that no one person can predict with accuracy (ie within a +/- margin of error, precisely what the temperatures will be, or what even the weather will be on any given day within 14 days into the future. And these are the guys who want to tell us that MAN IS EVIL etc yadda yadda? Riiiiiight. On that note, I'll stop contributing urine to this contest. In fact? I'll remove all future responses to the deleted bin automatically unread, as David here is a prime example of why I really dislike pissing contests - no one wins, and everyone who participates comes out smelling no matter what. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] > [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of David Scheidt > Sent: Saturday, May 01, 2010 9:18 AM > To: The GURPSnet mailing list > Subject: Re: [gurps] Logistics > > On F > > > > > > > > No. It's quite reasonable to make the claim that climate > change is > > > certain, that it's caused by man burning fossil fuels, and it's > > > happening now. > > > > > > -- > > > David Scheidt > > > [email protected] > > > > It should be pointed out, that the terminology of "Climate deniers" > > implies that those who take up opposing or dissenting > views, are in the wrong. > > > > > It is.
