Hello DataPacRat, your ship will need at least one bunkroom, one control room, and most likely a cargo or fabricator system if they want to DO anything once they arrive. A point defense system won't hurt, considering where they go, and that means power. Armor, too. So your accel and delta-V figures could be optimistic. Did they just go "into the belt," or did they choose a specific named asteroid? Ceres, Vesta, Pallas ... Do they plan to "claim" an entire asteroid, or just a few square miles on the surface. Distance in the belt should be measured in time and delta-V, not just miles. Since minimum delta-V will last much too long for most purposes, it will always be a tradeoff.
