I have played it, this is what has happened:
The original Plan of Tribunus player was to send a real fake Tribunus to
the villa, instead of himself and ambush the emissary on the way to the
Villa. That plan was however abandoned both because of unfeasability and
because he came to the conclusion, that the fight with more personal touch
fits better to the character.
This however kept the negotiations about his way out short, because
initially he believed, he does not need it anyway.
The pcs then had been contacted by the Dyrymoi brothers a group os syrian
cooks with bad latin, identical beards and wearing identical caftans.
(conspiracy III). They used their contacts to find a disguise expert,
disguised themself as additional Dyrymoi and agreed to help the Dyrymoi
under the condition, that they can come as additional brothers.
The Dyrymoi kept running around in a confusing way at the job, allowing
one of them to steal money and jewels from the villa. The pcs prepared the
cart, they had been coming with a flight vehicle, while 2 pcs hid themself
on a roof close to the arena to throw Tribunus a sharp sword, in case he
only gets a blunt. They had changed to a sort of a roman ninja outfit,
ditching their caftans.
Tribunus quickly dispatched the emissary*, and the pcs on the roof
realized that all they had planned was to provide Tribunus with a
sword, which has become obsolete, so they went freeing the other
doubles. Tribunus ignored the designated hostage, jumped over the
fences and took a stunned real noble matron instead. By a very good
stealth roll an other pc managed to take the villa owner himself as
hostage, who was busy commanding the guards, who were surrounding
Tribunus and the hostage. The wagon meanwhile blocked the door of the
compound and the teamster (a pc, who is an auriga) maintained enough
trouble with the horses, that the guards could not close the door.
The villa owner was coerced to send the guards to a distance, and the pcs
fled with the wagon. They immediatly ditched the hostages and as soon as
they were out of sight the wagon and relied on stealth to dodge pursuers
and soldiers, who had been called to search for culprits.
The Dyrymoi had already transported their loot off and the remaining ones
managed to convince the villa owners, that their wagon had been stolen.
The official story is that a gang of criminals had attacked the villa,
killed one noble, stole valuables and the wagon of the cooks and ran away.
* he had planned to tell the emissary who he really was before killing him
off, but he had rolled high enough on the damage rolls for both his
attacks (all out attack), that it never came to that.
