Still playing with the numbers ...

Say I have a 20,000-ton aircraft with a 1,800,000-cf body and
two 100,000-cf wings. If I made no math errors, the Expansion
2 rules give a stall speed of about 380 mph.

If it has eight 1.5-GW ducted fans, just two of them should be
enough to sustain flight between a minimum of stall speed and
a maximum of 600 mph. Full thrust is only required for flight
below the stall speed.

That has two effects -- it would be possible to power the six
lift fans with batteries, and use fusion power only for the
two vectored lift/thrust fans. And flight operations may get
easier without turbulence from the six lift fans.

Just how crazy are flight operations at 400 mph?

OTOH, the spare 9 GW could power a really big particle beam
or laser.

Regards,
Onno
