I think the USMC has its own landing craft, support ships, etc. I think it'll depend upon the owning nation's traditions as much as rational analysis of what's optimal.
How quickly do you have to recharge the power cells of the suits? Even a big TL11+ dropship would need a few minutes to recharge a dozen rE cells -- an hour for a full platoon.
I don't think speed of recharge is too important - for extended ops you'd bring semi-portable power-plants or run a recharge roster off the dropship or handy armoured vehicles. For ops longer than one battery yet not long enough to justify bringing a fusion plant along, bring replacement batteries.
