Couple of things jump out...

1) No organic indirect fire. Would go with a company-level fire support
element.

2) Platoon weapons squad may consider a mix of systems. Some heavier auto
fire systems along the heavier, infantry-portable 'assault guns'.

3) For a company working independent operations on a ship, along with
dropships one might consider adding in an attached section of "gunships";
dedicated attack craft. Certainly you could go with the idea of the
dropships being ultra-tech Hinds, dropping their infantry then going to
gunships. But I'd be more inclined to see them function more like IFVs and
have the tougher targets handled by craft built from the ground up as combat
vehicles without compromising combat capability to transport, or place
limited transport assets into unneeded harm.

4) Company could benefit from a section trained to call for fires from
orbital assets. Either an attached Fleet asset trained in such operations,
or a Scouts section.

Onno,

If you are interested, I have a TO&E set up for Marine units through
division set up for a campaign I am creating. One of the units is for
Armored Infantry. I would just need to know where to send it.

Subject: Re: [gurps] Battlesuit TO&E

Tech Level 12. The starships of the Friendly Federation boldly go where no
human has interfered before. Cruisers carry one battlesuited company of
Marines, in case the locals don't see the arrogant busybodies as friends.

* A rifle squad consists of two four-man fire teams and a sergeant. Each
team has one "x-ray laser MG" (RoF 16*) and three "x-ray laser rifles"
(RoF 8*) plus a few missiles, the sergeant has a rifle as well.
* A weapons squad consists of three two-man teams and a sergeant. Each
team has one "antiparticle bazooka" and one x-ray laser rifle, again
 the sergeant has a rifle.
* An engineer squad has two four-man teams and a sergeant. Each team has
four x-ray laser rifles (with fewer power cells and more demolitions
and sensors), their sergeant has a rifle, too.

* A rifle platoon consists of three rifle squads, one weapons squad, one
platoon leader, one platoon sergeant, and one attached corpsman. There
are 37 battlesuits, 27 rifles, 6 Mgs, 3 bazookas, and one unarmed (?)
 trooper.
* An engineer platoon has three engineer squads, one platoon leader, and
one platoon sergeant. There are 29 rifles, no heavy weapons.

* A rifle company consists of three rifle squads, one engineer platoon,
one company leader, one XO, one company sergeant major, and one
operations NCO in battlesuits. There are 144 suits with 114 x-ray
rifles, 18 MGs, 9 Antiparticle Bazookas.
The company headquarters also contains four 4-ton grav jeeps with one
driver each and a dozen armorers, suit mechanics, commo operators, and
supply clerks. Some of them drop in the jeeps, some stay in the ship
 to manage logistics.

* The cruiser has a dozen dropships, each rated for 16 battlesuits. On
average two are down with some maintenance problem, which leaves ten
operational to drop 144 suits and four jeeps.
The dropships require 24 pilots, their maintenance is handed by the
 ship's crew.

* An independent platoon on a smaller starship would add one XO, one
operations NCO, another corpsman, two grav jeeps with their drivers,
 and six non-battlesuit support troops.
They would fit into three of those dropships, with a 4th dropship as
spare or to distribute the troops between more targets.

If three independent platoons come together, they will be short the combat
engineers and slightly overstrength in supporting techs/clerks.

Required vehicles:
A battlesuit with modular weapons.
A grav jeep, utility variant.
A grav jeep, suit maintenance and recovery variant.
A dropship.
Perhaps the cruiser.

Onno
