I think alot depends on need and desperation.

Intelligent does not mean good soldiers.
Or sane ones.

I know in the last deployments in Afghanstan, the US Army lowered it standards on what was allowable in, so they could fill their ranks, and then the deployments and all are mostly over, well the larger ones, so many who got in with a waiver are now getting kicked out cause of the reasons for the waiver, and some for stuff that would have been normal during war/conflict but now .. When they first got back, and the need was no longer there, if you got caught drinking while driving, you might as well pack up and head for the gate, then it came to anything to do with alcohol or like abuse, The fun of how to get numbers up and back down before and after a conflict. As well as how to handle the issues that come with conflict. Or how many Star Ship Trooper Mobile Infantry got to retire or got kicked out and how many had to deal with PTSD or like issues, such as OCD to kill bugs, all kinds, or fear of all kinds of bugs.

But I digress, I expect that the military and those who serve will divide even more so?

Mobile Infantry and like to be elite or like? While those who do basic security work will be bottom of the barrel or just physical fitness?

After all, do you really need to have legs if your in an exo-skeleton and body armor?
