The pulse Date/HumanWare experience is precisely why I have the jitters about
all of this. As someone else said to me, we will feel growing pains, but will
have to do the wait and see for a while.

I don’t want to be messed with again with products developed outside the U.S.
who later decide not to support our needs properly. Been there done that and
have a non-working piecde of GPS technology which was never made good on to
show for it. I just purchased new GPS technology on a Hims product because I
felt secure. So, I hope they won’t let us down.

Subject: RE: [GW-Booksense] Important Announcement Regarding GW Micro and HIMS
Partnership

Wow…

This concerns me greatly. I have no direct experience with HIMS customer
service, technical support, sales or any other departments. I have no reason
to suspect they will not be responsive, other than my more general experience
with tech manufacturers based in other countries and selling into a U.S.
market. PulseData comes to mind and not with a great deal of fondness, I’m
sorry to say.

When Humanware moved their tech support from California to Montreal, I
experienced a deterioration of quality in their technical support and
communications, only one part of which had to do with their no longer being in
my time zone. And that was the same company, at least in theory.

I was seriously considering the BrailleSense On-Hand and must now weigh that
decision much more carefully before committing to an expensive product and
long-term relationship with a company with whom I have no immediate experience.
I know and trust GWMicro and that was no small part of my decision.

Thanks, GWMicro, for being there and putting in the hard work getting these
products to us in their current state of development. I am severely
disappointed in this change and hope it will not have a negative impact on
either GWMicro or the product lines involved.
