Hi,
Maybe since ESpeak is OpenSource gw could someday 5 or so years down the
road improve it, it's very responsive but sounds very bad so far.
not nearly as good as eloquence. Oh, or we could switch to the acapela
voices, acapela standard or pro voices that is.

Hello Mike,
My observation is not so much that the new Eloquence is unstable but that,
in many contexts, it is so sluggish as to be almost unusable. I hope GW
Micro is able to resolve some of the performance and stability issues
prior
to release. I also do understand how Eloquence is developed by a third
party
who is no longer updating the software, so this means we will have to
eventually get used to DEC-Talk or another synthesizer in the long run.
Like you, I also don't like DEC-Talk software speech. It is a far cry from
the excellence of their hardware implementations. I wonder if anyone out
here has tried this beta with any other software speech synthesizers? If
so,
is there one anyone would recommend for both responsiveness and
reliability?
Regards,
Darrell
