When installing GW Toolkit or Homer Shared Object, I first pull up the Window-Eyes control panel, go to the file menu, press M to get to the message that says scripting status on and press enter. I then up-arrow to "off" and press enter. Scripts are now stopped. I install the desired scripts and then go through the process above pressing down-arrow to turn scripts back on again. This has never failed to work for me. Even though the above-mentioned scripts are supposed to stop all running scripts and restart them after installation, this does not always work. The extra steps I mention here are worth the effort in my opinion.

When I'm notified at startup that a new GW toolkit is available, I've just hit enter on the button to install the script and then follow the prompts and the toolkit first stops all scripts and then installs. It then restarts all scripts and everything is running again. I've been running skype in the background while installing scripts also with no problems.
