Hi Jim. After you mentioned that my information concerning timed recordings
in Goldwave was incorrect, I opened the program's recording properties for
a look. I can see where you can stipulate the length of a recording and its
quality as well, but I can't see where I can tell goldwave to say... start
recording from a stipulated source at 9:00 on Tuesay the 9th and stop
recording at 9:30. I would like to try this using Goldwave and Beta three.
Could you tell me how to do it please.

I generally record using Dc7, but I'm always willing to try new options.

Thanks.

Hi your information about gold wave is not correct.

It supports time recording with no problem.

David, with your specifications in mind, I would recommend either Replay AV
or Total Recorder Professional. Both programs allow timed recordings and
both will record from line-in or from just about anything that your sound
card will pick up. Both work well with Window-Eyes and I use both in my
Media transfer business. There are other fine recorders out there,
especially when you consider editing software. The ones that I have used and
find very accessible include Dc7, Goldwave, Sound Forge and Wave Pad. I've
recorded using all 4 of these as well and they work fine with Window-Eyes,
but to my knowledge, none have a setting for specifically timed recordings.
Additionally, one note about Dc7, I have heard that it does not work well
with Vista when used with Window-Eyes, . I do not know this firsthand, as I
have XP, but the source for this info is someone who I would call reliable.

So, why not download demos of Total Recorder and Replay AV. Then feel free
to let me know how you're getting on.

Subject: Recording software

I am looking for a good, accessible, easy to setup/use recording software. I
need to record sound from the line-in jack on the sound card, but also want
to be able to record from the digital input, as welll as record from certain
(predefined) streamings. What is an important feature, that I am looking
for, is the chance of presetting a start time, and recording length. That
is, I want to be able to set the software, so that it will start recording
from a given source, Monday at 10:5Pm, and end recording after 43 minutes -
for example. Mainly it is important to record in .wav format, but if it can
be done directly in other formats, that's just a bonus. I don't want to pay
several hundreds of dollars for a software, not knowing if it is accessible
with WE. Why, I ask the listers, if anyone have found a good software -
freeware, shareware, or fully paid for - that you find meeting the above
requirements.

Thanks for all your response, and feedback!
